1. Draw a circle representing the wolf's head. Draw a wolf’s neck to it, which should be quite thick, since it is covered with thick fur;
2. Draw the chest to the neck, and then the torso;
3. Light lines mark all the paws of the animal;
4. Draw the outline of the wolf's head;
5. Draw a mouth and nose. Then draw a small eye. On the top of the head, draw erect ears that resemble triangles in shape. Draw the front legs of the animal;

In addition, having understood how to draw a wolf step by step, you can choose not only multi-colored pencils, but also almost any paints or felt-tip pens of appropriate tones to color a pencil sketch.
Of course, you may not immediately understand how to draw a wolf and then color the finished image. But with a little practice, you'll probably you will succeed! To make your task easier, you can watch these animals at the zoo or watch documentary about them. The wolf is one of the main characters of fairy tales and cartoons, which is quite popular among children. Not a single intriguing film is complete without a character - a wolf. fairy tale story. And from a very young age, children want to try to portray their favorite characters on their own and ask their parents for help. We will show you how easy it is to teach your child to draw a beautiful top.

What you will need:

  • Paper;
  • simple pencil;
  • eraser.

So, how to draw a wolf step by step:

First, draw an oval - this will be the face of a wolf.

We draw ears on top of this oval, circles and dots inside them - eyes, draw two lines for the neck.

And, of course, what is a wolf without a mouth? Draw the nose - an inverted triangle with two stripes at the bottom, as in the picture. Under the nose is a mouth, it is drawn like an inverted and flattened number 3.

Now we draw the front legs.

Draw a fluffy tail for the top. It should curl and have six slightly sharp protrusions on it (protruding wolf hair).

At this stage, you should no longer have a question: how to draw a wolf for beginners, because now you are drawing final stage– hind legs and lower line of the body. Try to make the paws slightly bent, like in the picture.

Finally, the last stage! Now our top is white, but we need to make it gray. You can completely shade it with a simple pencil, but to make it even more beautiful and like a top, you can do it as in the picture: draw a line that starts from the front paw, goes to the face, outlining the features of the muzzle, and ends at the tail. Everything that is behind top part lines – carefully shade (shade) with a simple pencil. The wolf is ready!

Our task today is to understand how to draw a wolf with a pencil, the evil and scary Gray, who knows a lot about piglets. And this must be done in such a way as to understand his nature.

But first, let's decide! The wolf, who is he for us, the hero of fairy tales or beast of prey living in the forest? Accordingly, having chosen his role, we will portray this character. This is exactly what I am going to teach my son.

Find the character's character

For children, the wolf is often seen as a character from the cartoons “Kapitoshka”, “Once Upon a Time There Was a Dog”, “Wolves and Sheep” and others. Therefore, I must introduce my son to the role this predator plays when living in its natural conditions.

So we begin to work on drawing a wolf in pencil step by step. We read books, mostly encyclopedias, and carefully look at the pictures together that are there. We discuss them together. Let's learn about the nature of this forest orderly.

We are interested in receiving as much information as possible. This time is not in vain for both my son and me. We are interested in communicating. But we also get to know the natural world around us. And finally we understand how we want to draw a wolf step by step with a pencil. Let's get started.

Work on preparation

Everything we have learned helps us choose a suitable drawing that will become the basis of our work; we took it for sketching. “Our” beast stands calmly, knowing that nothing and no one threatens him, because he is the threat!

He is a predator. He has a calm but attentive gaze, directed somewhere far away, probably to keep an eye on the animals of the forest, which in a moment could become prey, and also to anticipate the appearance of a hunter - the only threat to the wolves.

So, how to draw a wolf step by step? We prepare everything you need:

  • Paper;
  • Colour pencils;
  • Eraser;
  • A simple pencil.

Why do we need colored ones if it is usual for a wolf to be black and gray? And his predatory eyes, which gleam brightly green. Sometimes they draw an open mouth, this requires red color. Interior beast white-pink color. And the tip of the tail of some representatives of this family is white. Therefore, we will need this entire set.

Execution of a portrait of an animal

7 steps step by step drawing wolf From simple lines we will get to the point where we get the image of the beast.

Step 1

Let's draw a circle. And under it is a figure similar in shape to an egg. It's a little out of the way. And the narrow part of it is further from the circle.

Step 2

We connect both figures with a concave line with right side. There are 4 lines extending from the bottom figure; they will become the legs of the beast.

Step 3

Perhaps here the child needs some help, because such details on the face as the nose and ears are drawn.

Step 4

We depict the neck, eyes and front legs. It is much easier for kids and beginners to draw a wolf step by step with a pencil. So every detail is checked against the picture for sketching. And therefore it is depicted more accurately.

Step 5

We pay attention to the hind legs. We remove all unnecessary details. The animal we have drawn is already becoming more similar to the drawings that the baby and I looked through before starting work.

Step 6

Moving step by step, we didn’t even notice how we had done almost everything. All that remains is to draw the tip of the tail that is visible, circle the images, not forgetting that the man has a strong neck with a muff, short hair that puffs up in all directions and has strong paws. Pencil drawing for beginners looks quite decent.

Step 7

Painting. Here we not only enliven our animal with colors, but also give it naturalness. It is not enough to be able to accurately copy from a sample. You need to give any image its own character. This should be clearly visible from your posture and facial expression.

We did it great picture. And my son and I already know how to draw a wolf, a predatory and beautiful animal.

And a few more options:

Howling at the moon:

And a cartoon wolf:

The wolf is a dangerous predator, which for some reason has gained great popularity on the Internet. In terms of the way he is drawn, he most closely resembles a dog, but there is specific features and features. The wolf has characteristic appearance, regardless of the specific type. It also often has very thick and lush fur, which is necessary in order to survive in harsh conditions.

As in other tutorials, we will look at how to draw a wolf using step by step drawings And detailed explanations. This will allow anyone to master this material. Thanks to tips and precise explanations, a child will be able to understand what’s what and draw a wolf on his own without the help of adults. Even if you don't have any experience in drawing, try to go through each step to get a really good result.

Before you begin, prepare your work area. You need a table on which there will be nothing superfluous. Better take some pencils varying degrees rigidity. You will also need an eraser and, if you want to end up with color image, various instruments for coloring. Regular colored pencils are ideal. However, you can use paints, pastels and more.

How to draw a wolf step by step

In previous lessons we talked about why it is important to start any drawing with supporting figures. Let's briefly explain again:

  • help to construct the image correctly;
  • improve the quality of work;
  • allow you to reduce the number of corrections;
  • competently build a perspective;
  • help maintain proportions.

If you can draw without anchor points, it is still recommended to use them during the learning phase. You will immediately notice the difference. Moreover, when drawing “from your head” it can be very difficult to depict everything correctly the first time. Such auxiliary elements will significantly facilitate the artist’s work.

Basic outlines

We will depict a wolf running towards us and turning slightly to the left. This animal has a rather wide muzzle, so the first supporting oval must be depicted with a horizontal extension. Keep in mind that you shouldn't make it too wide. Just flatten it a little on top and bottom.

Then place a dot centered at the bottom. This will be the right middle of the second reference circle. It should be about 3-4 times smaller than the previous option. With its help, the border of the animal’s mouth will be indicated and the correct perspective will be created. Also at this stage you can begin to depict the body of the animal.

Since we are considering the question of how to draw a wolf in perspective with a pencil, we should draw a small curved line going to the right. It should curve in the middle and be approximately straight at the ends. The bend itself is quite gentle and resembles a small bulge. This indicates the curve of the animal's body.

Muzzle and body

Now you can add some details to the face and start drawing the wolf's body. First draw the outlines of the ears. They have the shape of triangles directed towards different sides and are a little reminiscent of a cat's, but more elongated and sharp. To do this, you can draw a straight line to the right from the center of the large reference circle, and then an arcuate line for the upper right edge. The left ear is drawn with an overlap. Make sure they are at the same height.

From the middle of the large reference circle, start drawing the animal's mouth. To do this, draw a slightly curved line to the bottom edge of the small reference circle, and then complete the shape by following the arc. You can also add a nose in the form of a triangle with rounded corners. It should occupy approximately one-fourth of the entire small support circle. Eyes can be added using small lines located just above the mouth. In one of the next stages we will detail them.

I remember when I was learning to draw, it was the wolf that was the hardest for me. He always turned out to look like a dog, or even some unknown animal. It’s worth noting that back then there wasn’t much internet and you had to draw more from your head or from books. But now I can confidently say that thanks to the lessons you can learn to depict whatever your heart desires. Subscribe to our lessons and you can become a real master of fine art.

Now we can outline the torso. The best way to do this is by drawing two support circles: one for the front belt and one for the back. Since we are talking about how to draw a wolf with a pencil step by step, even such things will be considered. The right border of the first circle should fall exactly in the middle of the reference line for the torso. Start drawing the second circle at the height of the intersection of the circle for the muzzle and the curved line. It should be a little larger and located below the first one.

Mech and new anchor points

Since the wolf has a lot of fur, it will hang down in some places. If you know how to draw folds, then you will not have any particular difficulties with drawing this stage. First you need to draw the fur around the animal's face. Start doing this on the left side, where there is less of it, and finish on the right. Keep in mind that there is no need to finish painting the fur on top, since it falls under the influence of gravity.

You can also add a little detail to the eyes. Previously we drew only the upper borders of the picture, now add the lower ones. You should end up with something like an ellipse with corners or a parallelepiped with rounded corners. You might have seen something similar in the article on.

Since today we are looking at how to draw a wolf for beginners, let's draw a few more reference circles. This time for the paws of an animal. They will have the joints of the wolf. From the lower right border of the mouth, go down to the lower border great circle torso and draw a small circle. The second one should be depicted a little to the right. The latter is also on the right, but does not go beyond the current boundaries of the picture.

Paws

First you should draw straight contours for the paws. To do this, draw one straight line from the top reference circle to the left circle, as well as a curve to the central circle. For the right one, the contour line should fall from the large right circle. Next, you need to draw vertical lines from the support circles down to more accurately indicate the position of the paws in space. Here, add a couple of touches to the ears, making them more expressive.

Next you need to add the outer contour of the paws. They have a very specific structure. The width of the paws should not exceed the areas of the support circles. Draw lines parallel to the curves drawn in the previous step. For one of the paws, you can immediately draw claws - this will make the task easier in the future. Since we are talking about how to draw a wolf with a pencil for beginners, I recommend repeating all the contours from the drawing. Otherwise, the result may not be plausible.

Detailing

The last stage in drawing a wolf is detailing. More lines need to be added to represent the animal's fur. First of all, you need to add a line from the mouth to the center of the muzzle. You can also add some fur in the ears. It is better to also transform the reference circles and add uneven contours to them. Several parallel curves for each section will do. In addition, draw a tail behind the wolf’s paws.

Let's add even more auxiliary lines to make the wolf even more realistic. First of all, you should add fur lines on the head. Let them be shaped like a zigzag check mark. You can also make some kind of eyebrows on the muzzle using uneven contours. Better detail the line of the mouth and nose. Finally, erase all the reference lines. If you want, you can color the result.

How to draw a howling wolf

This time we will draw a wolf who will howl at the moon. In principle, this option is even easier than the previous one and even children can handle them. So if you want to teach your child to draw this animal, it is better to offer him this option. Moreover, with the help of these sequential steps you will be able to understand how to draw a wolf from the side, which is also important to learn how to do.

Reference contours

Start drawing by defining the boundaries of the drawing. In the upper left corner, indicate the point where the animal’s muzzle will be pumped, in the lower right – the hind paw. It will also determine the location of the earth. This is necessary in order to maintain all proportions in the future and correctly understand how to draw a wolf step by step for beginners.

So, step back a little from the highest point down and draw a small circle. This will be the basis for our wolf's face. Then go down and to the right a little. Draw a horizontal ellipse, shaped like a bean. It should narrow on the right side and widen on the left. This will be the body of a wolf.

Next, outline the ear. It should be shaped like a semi-ellipse and directed to the right. Then connect the torso and head using curved lines. You will get an almost full-fledged wolf. Next, you need to designate the animal’s mouth. To do this, draw two lines from the reference circle and connect them using a curve. Draw the howling mouth.

By the way, since wolves most often live in the forest, the ability to draw trees is really important. On our website there is one that is dedicated specifically to this technique. Take it and learn how to draw great backgrounds.

After this, designate reference line animal tail. It should extend from the upper border of the body in an arc to the right, and then fall vertically down. You should also draw the outlines of the animal’s paws. It was noted earlier that wolves have quite specific form paws, so you need to stick to the pattern. At the end, add several circles in contact with the surface of the earth.

Detailing

You have a ready-made dummy that needs to be transformed into a finished wolf. It is best to focus on the layout so that you get even proportions. Then you can try to depict this animal yourself using similar sketches, but for now it’s better to repeat everything that is in the drawing.

Draw in detail the muzzle and upper body. Add some fur on the animal's neck. Also add detail to the ears by adding outer edges and bumps. Outline the lines of the eyes, draw a triangle nose and add a pair of fangs. This will make the drawing much more realistic and attractive.

  1. The paws should stick out slightly.
  2. They exit from the body at a certain angle backwards.
  3. They have a characteristic bone.
  4. The width of the paw is constantly narrowing.
  5. Fur sprouts underneath.

In general, it is better to also use the indicated drawings and try to draw everything with sufficient reliability. This will allow you to create something “your own” later.

Finally, outline the hind legs and tail, following the same principles. This should be enough to understand how to draw a wolf with a pencil step by step for beginners, but you can add details to the work to add life to the image. To do this, you must first draw the folds of the fur.

Most of them will be present on the neck, since our animal raises its head up to howl. You should also draw several zigzag lines in the places where the paws connect to the body. Add some ligaments to the legs using regular straight lines. Make sure the lines don't look fake.

At the end you can decorate the drawing, as I did.

In principle, this knowledge is enough to understand how to draw a wolf for children. However, if you still have questions, feel free to ask them in the comments. I will definitely answer them and help you figure everything out. Here you can leave your comments, which will be taken into account or revised. A wolf has a similar body to a dog because they have the same "ancestors", but the wolf has a number of differences. First of all, the wolf has more pronounced predatory characteristics of a wild animal. A wolf's fangs are longer than those of a dog, its tail is bushier, and its thick, “powerful” paws have large claws. And even a tamed wolf is always fraught with danger for humans, which is why they are not tamed in a “pure” breed, and in movies the role of a wolf is always “played” by dogs. Probably not everyone knows, but a wolf, even raised in captivity, will never bark; he can only growl and howl angrily.
A wolf's grin is most often depicted in drawings to convey its aggressive nature. If you can, also draw the predatory, cold look of the wolf in your drawing. The wolf has one more feature - its body is slightly more powerful than that of a dog, but only an experienced person can notice this. All these features must be accurately reflected in the drawing so that the wolf does not look like a dog. In this lesson we will learn draw a wolf step by step with pencil.

1. Let's draw the general outline of the wolf

To make it easier for you to draw a wolf, you can divide your future drawing into squares. This marking will help you correctly draw the primary contours. Let's first draw the contours of the body and a circle for the head. Then add a few strokes for the paws and move on to the next step.

2. Add details to the drawing

At this stage we will draw the wolf rough outline his body and tail. But first draw the paws. The front paws will be quite easy to draw, but the hind paws will be a little more difficult to draw. A wolf's hair is always bent and somewhat reminiscent of a cat's.

3. How to draw a head

Because the general outline we have already drawn the wolf, then we can remove the preliminary markings and start drawing the head, but first we will outline only the approximate outline of the wolf’s head without detailed drawing. First draw the outlines of the ears and then draw the outline of the "muzzle". Try to complete this detail as accurately as possible so that the wolf does not look like a fox or a dog.

4. Drawing of a wolf's head in detail

In any drawing, including an animal, viewers first of all pay attention to the head or face, if it is a drawing of a person. Therefore it is necessary draw a wolf so as to convey his predatory expression as accurately as possible, so that instead of a wolf it doesn’t turn out to be a mongrel. First, remove unnecessary outlines from the head drawing and draw the nose. Now you can draw eyes and add others small parts. In general, drawing a wolf step by step is not so difficult and practically at this step general drawing the wolf will be completely finished. All you have to do is choose whether to draw it further with a simple pencil or color it with paints or colored pencils.

5. Drawing fur

If you decide to draw a wolf only with a pencil, then use my shadow application scheme. The most difficult thing to draw is the fur of a wolf. To do this, apply numerous small pencil strokes along the contours, as in my drawing. Try not to paint the skin with one color. Shadows add volume, and besides, in life, a wolf’s fur has different shades, especially during molting.

6. Drawing of a wolf on a tablet

Coloring a drawing of a wolf with colored pencils and even more so with paints is not easy. Not only is it very difficult to find desired color, and the color of the wolf also has different shades. There is a dark stripe running down the back. Stripes with dark shade will be found on the neck and belly of the wolf. The bridge of the nose and forehead of the wolf should also be darker. To emphasize that this is a wolf and not a dog, depict the plot in the drawing. For example, draw a wolf surrounded by hunting dogs, or draw a wolf in a forest clearing. Then minor inaccuracies will not be so noticeable and it will be clear that this wolf drawing.

There is almost no particular difference between the drawing of a wolf and the drawing of a dog, especially if the dogs are the same color as the wolf, therefore, all wolves in films are dogs. And only the “cold” look of the wolf’s yellow eyes can give him away.

The fox is very similar to its relatives - the wolf and the dog. She has a similar body structure to them and is only slightly smaller in size. But the fox also has its differences. She has a very bushy tail, which she needs not only for beauty, but also for business, for example, to cover her own tracks in the snow or to keep warm in severe frost.

Tigers live in the Primorsky taiga, and you can only see them in the circus. The tiger is a very smart and cautious animal and avoids meeting people. In nature, he has no enemies (except for humans) and even a wolf is for him like a mouse for a cat.

Drawing a wolf or a bear requires some preparation and practice in drawing animals. The fact is that it is imperative that the drawing reflect the character of the bear, a ferocious and dangerous animal, perhaps even more dangerous than a wolf. A meeting with a mother bear surrounded by cubs is considered especially dangerous; in this case, even a tree will not save you from her wrath.

A good scene for drawing a wolf could be a horse running away from a wolf. A wolf alone will not dare to attack a horse, it hits too hard with its hoof, but with an article they can drive a weakened horse.
