How to make cosmic color from watercolor. How to draw space: the simplest methods and tools

Today we will teach you how to paint space in watercolors. This lesson is quite easy, which means that any beginning artist can master it. In addition, drawing space will also be useful for beginners who have not had time to master the “wet” and “graduated wash” techniques.

So, to draw space you will need:

  • watercolor paper;
  • tablet and masking/stationery tape (for fixing paper);
  • a simple pencil;
  • round synthetic brushes No. 6 and 3;
  • watercolor paints.

Drawing stages

Step 1. When working using the wet-on-wet technique, you must secure the watercolor sheet of paper on the tablet using strips of masking/stationery tape. Thanks to this, the paper soaked in water will not be deformed, and the applied watercolor shades will fall beautifully on each piece of the sheet.

Using a simple pencil, draw an uneven horizon line.

Step 2. Wet the sheet of paper thoroughly with water using a large brush to the pencil line. After applying water, paint should be applied as quickly as possible in order to achieve smooth, beautiful shade transitions. In the lower right corner we apply a little lemon cadmium with chaotic strokes.

We draw translucent ocher along the horizon line and the central part of the picture.

Step 3. Saturate the drawing with cool shades. Apply ultramarine to the central and upper right part of the sketch. Above the ocher horizon we add a little turquoise tone, and in the upper left corner - blue. Using a clean brush, blend the boundaries of the shades, making them smooth.

Step 4. Paint the upper corners of the sky with black.

And we make the already applied shades more saturated, using the same shades of watercolor, but with less water. We mix all the clear boundaries of the shades to obtain a beautiful gradient.

We process yellow borders with purple or violet-pink.

Step 5. Let the drawing dry, and then fill the unpainted island with black.

Using a thin brush we create the base of the trees, and then draw the small branches of the tops of the fir trees.

Step 6. Now add a white tone to the brush and select the light areas in the center of the picture. We blur their edges to avoid a clear outline.

Space is the relatively empty areas of the Universe that lie outside the boundaries of the atmospheres of celestial bodies. This step-by-step master class is suitable for beginning artists in elementary school and older.

Drawing space is a very interesting activity. This way you can tell and show your child that besides the Earth, there are other planets, comets, and asteroids.

Necessary materials:

  • a simple pencil;
  • a set of colored pencils;
  • black marker or felt-tip pen.

Stages of drawing space:

1. The entire solar system consists of the Sun, around which 8 planets revolve. So first we need to draw a big circle.

3. You will need to draw one planet on each line. Each planet has its own size and distinctive features. For example, Saturn is in the sixth position from the Sun, and it has a ring system. Uranus also has rings. There are 30 of them in total. We will also draw a comet and an asteroid field between the fourth and fifth planet. Behind the last planet we depict asteroids. They are called the Kuiper field.

4. We outline each element in the drawing with a black marker.

5. We have drawn the basic elements of space, so we begin to color it. First of all, let's give color to the Sun, which needs yellow and orange shades.

Then, in order, we move on to the other planets and color them with the same pencils. We will also add strokes with an orange pencil to some of the planets. But let's color the rings of Saturn with a brown pencil.

6. Now let's move on to other planets. We will color them with blue and cyan pencils. These are Uranus and Neptune. But our planet differs from others because it contains various shades - yellow, blue, and green. Shade the belts with asteroids in brown tones.

7. Now let's color space and all space.

8. At this point the drawing of space is completely finished. Of course, there are many other details that can be drawn here, but let's leave it to our imagination to dream and experience the whole mystery of the Universe.

Sredina Olga Stanislavovna, teacher, head of the art studio of the MDOU TsRR d.s. No. 1 “Bear Cub”, Yuryuzan, Chelyabinsk Region

Purpose:
Creation of educational, gift or competition work
Materials:
A3 white or colored double-sided paper, wax crayons, salt, gouache or black watercolor, soft brush No. 3-5
Goals:
Creation of works on a space theme
Tasks:
Learning different ways to depict space
Improving practical skills in using wax crayons and watercolors
Education of patriotism.
Developing curiosity

Preliminary work:

1 We look at photographs of cosmic depths.

2 We get acquainted with the history of astronautics, with the names and achievements of our outstanding cosmonauts. We remember the names: Yuri Gagarin, Valentina Tereshkova, Alexey Leonov. The world's first astronaut, the first woman in space, the first person to go into outer space. We look at the photographs, talk about the difficulties and delights of the profession of space explorers. How did test pilots become astronauts? What kind of training did they undergo? Let's take a closer look at the first human spacewalk.

2 - Thinking about space, UFOs, aliens. We discuss films and cartoons. We think what kind of aliens they might be: good or evil?

3 - Literary living room:

Arkady Khait
Any of us can name all the planets in order:
One - Mercury, two - Venus, three - Earth, four - Mars.
Five is Jupiter, six is Saturn, seven is Uranus, followed by Neptune.
He is the eighth in a row. And after him, then,
And the ninth planet called Pluto.

Steel ship around the Earth.
And even though its windows are small,
Everything is visible in them at a glance:
Steppe expanse, sea surf,
Or maybe you and me too!

Practical work No. 1: “Deep space”

To draw a cosmic landscape, we will need stencils of circles of various diameters. You can use special rulers or various “improvised means”.

We draw several planets with wax crayons, placing them randomly on the plane of the sheet. You can use the technique of superimposing nearby planets on lower ones, or depict one of the planets only partially.

After creating the cosmic composition, crumple the sheet of paper, twisting it several times, and carefully straighten it

Coloring the planets. To prevent the planets from becoming like grandma’s balls of thread, we draw very carefully with crayons and do not go beyond the edges.
Before we start working in color, we remember what forests, mountains, deserts and oceans look like from space, and we think about whether all planets can look the same? Fiery and foggy, sandy, gaseous and icy - they can look absolutely fantastic. We come up with complex color combinations.

Cover the entire sheet with black watercolor. The paint, accumulating in the cracks, creates the mysterious depth of outer space.

Practical work No. 2: “Staying in outer space”

For this work we will need a figurine of an astronaut in a spacesuit, circles of various diameters and a silhouette of a rocket.

We place all the figures on the sheet in random order. We start with a rocket and an astronaut. Then we add the planets.

Inside the silhouettes we delimit planes. We add windows to the rocket and divide the spacesuit into separate parts. We begin to gradually color the rocket, the astronaut and the planets. In order to create a festive atmosphere, we take bright, rich colors.

Adding stars. We take yellow and white crayons. We place them in small groups, in the form of constellations, or line them up (like the Milky Way). Each star is a distant, distant sun around which planets can revolve and there can be life on them.

We take a brush and black paint (watercolor or gouache) and begin to paint over the entire work. First we draw lines along the edge of the sheet, then we work along the entire sheet.

While the paint is not dry, “salt” the drawing. In the place where a grain of salt fell, the paint seems to collect, and with the help of this technique the space again becomes deep and mysterious.

Children's work (5-6 years old)

Drawing options
Flying saucers (UFOs) can be very diverse. Using our imagination, we depict alien aircraft.

What and how to draw space so that the work looks rich, bright and realistic? You can take an ordinary simple pencil and, by applying light and shadows, create an exquisite and beautiful work. • brushes (wide and thin)

Step-by-step instructions on how to draw planets, stars and a space satellite in gouache

  1. Make a preliminary rough sketch and mark on paper a large semicircle of a planet in the foreground, a smaller planet with rings a little further in the upper right corner, and a small meteorite satellite in the upper left of the composition.
  2. Use dark blue thick colors to tint the upper part of the picture. Make broad strokes and do not shade them along the edges so that the different shades are visible to the eye and are easier to read.
  3. In the lower part of the composition, make a lighter background, diluting the blue paints with white.
  4. Color the largest planet on the right side with lighter colors, and towards the bottom with rich bluish-gray tones.
  5. Make the meteorite as dark as possible, and paint the planet with rings in a bright orange rich tone.
  6. Then take a thinner brush and highlight the details. Mark bends and bulges on the meteorite so that it looks three-dimensional and realistic. On the largest planet, draw volcanic craters and highlight those on the sunny side with white.
  7. Scatter large eight-pointed stars over a dark blue background, and in some places place small white dots symbolizing distant luminaries. Wait for the work to dry thoroughly and hang it on the wall.

How to paint space with acrylic paints - a simple step-by-step master class for children

A simple, step-by-step master class will tell everyone how to make a bright and optimistic drawing of space using acrylic paints. They have excellent coverage, allow you to achieve rich, dense colors and dry quickly. All these characteristics make acrylic a very convenient working material not only for experienced painters, but also for very young beginning artists.

Necessary materials for depicting space with acrylic paints

Step-by-step instructions for the master class “Children’s drawing on the theme of space with acrylic paints”

  1. On a blank sheet of paper, mark two semicircles of planets of different sizes in the upper left and lower right corners. Place 3-4 small planets, spaceships and stars in the remaining empty space. In the lower semicircle, draw the figure of an astronaut, and in the upper semicircle, draw a flying rocket.
  2. Coloring the drawing is quite conventional, without resorting to mixing different colors. Tint the upper planet bright red, and the lower planet yellow-orange.
  3. Cover the vault of heaven with a very dark blue or even black color. Paint the stars with light yellow, pinkish and silver tones.
  4. Paint small planets according to your own taste; use bright, contrasting colors to paint spaceships.
  5. The astronaut standing on the lower planet is “dressed” in an orange spacesuit and “given into his hands” the Russian national flag.
  6. Draw the faces of aliens in the windows of interstellar ships and space dishes. Wait for the painting to dry and hang it in a prominent place or present it as an exhibit for a school competition.

How to draw space with a sponge - master class step by step on video

The author of this video tells how to draw picturesque cosmic distances using an ordinary kitchen sponge. Additional materials for work will require a toothbrush, plastic lids of different sizes and a small piece of fiberboard. You can use any paints, including acrylic, gouache or watercolor. The process does not take much time, but requires some skill. You need to learn how to carefully and clearly use a sponge, applying certain tones to the paper. Since the work is quite “dirty”, it is better to do it in some place where there is no risk of staining interior items, walls and furniture. It also wouldn’t hurt to put on an apron or some simple clothes that you don’t mind putting a splash of color on. But the final picture more than compensates for all these inconveniences and will bring a lot of pleasure to both the author and the audience.

The theme of space is an endless field for creativity; each artist will be able to find his own plot and create a unique cosmic landscape with bright lights, distant stars, mysterious planets and dangerous comets. You can draw space using various materials, but a drawing made with paints will look most impressive and vibrant.

Necessary materials:

  • half of whatman paper;
  • watercolor paints;
  • white gouache;
  • brushes of different sizes;
  • a glass of water;
  • a simple pencil;
  • eraser;
  • Toothbrush.

Manufacturing:

To make the drawing unusual, space can be depicted in a circle. To do this, in the center of whatman paper we draw a circle of the required size according to a pre-prepared template. Then moisten the surface of the circle with water using a thick brush - this will allow you to get smooth streaks of watercolor paint. We paint the center of the circle with light shades: yellow, orange, lilac, blue.

Now we mix two shades of blue on the palette: mix one with purple paint, the other with black. Apply the resulting colors to the drawing in small and random strokes. In this case, the brush should be washed after each shade. It is necessary to draw the image from the edges of the circle, gradually approaching the center of the illustration. Try not to apply dark colors over light colors, as it will be impossible to return the original version.

When the circle is completely filled in, you can begin to draw the details of the cosmic landscape. In the center of the circle, where the light tones of the picture are outlined, apply red and yellow watercolors with a thin brush.

All that remains is to complete the picture with many bright stars. To do this, apply white gouache to a toothbrush and, bending the edges of the bristles, spray the paint onto the image.

If you wish, you can draw several passing comets and a couple of small planets.

How to draw space with gouache

Necessary materials:

  • hoop with thick paper;
  • gouache;
  • brushes of different sizes;
  • white cardboard cutouts in the form of beautiful geometric patterns;
  • beautiful photo card;
  • colored cardboard;
  • printed paper;
  • white acrylic paint.

Manufacturing:

We moisten the blank in the form of a hoop with thick paper generously with water. Then use diluted gouache paints to create a blue-violet background. When the drawing is dry, use a thin brush to apply white dots with acrylic paint, which will imitate shining stars.

We complement the cosmic landscape with geometric shapes - constellations, made using a pre-prepared template, a thin brush and white paint. We cut out various shapes from colored cardboard and printed paper and create a beautiful composition from them, in the center of which there will be a successful photograph. Glue the resulting composition to the image.

The finished drawing will be an excellent option for a gift or an original decoration for your home interior.
