Interpretation of the lines of the hexagram The features symbolize the stages of development of a particular situation expressed in the hexagram. The places from the bottom, “initial”, to the sixth, “upper”, which are occupied by features, are called wei (“positions”). Odd positions (initial, third and fifth) are considered positions of light - yang; even (second, fourth and top) - positions of darkness - yin.
