Biography
Thiel spent his childhood in a village called Wendisch-Rambow, near the city of Schwerin in northeastern Germany. It was there that he began working - he ran a basket weaving workshop.

Regarding the family in which he grew up, we can say the following: father - Werner Lindemann - artist, writer, poet (wrote 34 books), with whom Thiel had a very tense relationship. In his book “Mike Oldfield in a Rocking Chair” (“Mike Oldfield im Schaukelstuhl”), Werner Lindemann describes, as in a diary, a conflict with his 19-year-old son Till (though in the book the hero’s name is Timm). Til's mother, soon after the divorce, when her son was 12 years old and his sister was 6, married a second time to a citizen of the United States of America.

On February 4, 1993, Werner Lindemann died. A gravestone with his name is located in the Zickhusen cemetery. Death was the result of heavy drinking. Oddly enough, he died in church. What he did there, or what brought him there, is unknown. Til, for some reason, never visited his father’s grave. There is also a version that the song “Heirate mich” is dedicated to him, or is somehow connected with him. In Rostock, a school is named after Werner Lindemann. During his lifetime, the father wanted his son to become a poet, and in essence, that’s what happened; Not only is the vocalist the author of songs for the group Rammstein, but he also released a collection of his poems “Messer” (“Knife”).

Thiel was involved in swimming; At the age of 10 he entered a sports school that trained reserves for the then GDR national team, which he brilliantly graduated from in 1979-1980. In 1978, Thiel was a member of the GDR team at the European Junior Swimming Championships. He was supposed to compete at the '80 Olympics in Moscow. But he failed. His swimming career ended, soon after arriving in Italy for the competition, he left the hotel where the team was located, together with his girlfriend, in order to see the capital of Italy - Rome, since before Til had not had the opportunity to freely travel abroad . The next day he returned to the hotel, but trouble could not be avoided; he was summoned for interrogation by the Stasi (the security service of the GDR). But this is not the only reason why Til leaves swimming; the main reason was an injury to the abdominal muscles during training.

At that time he was communicating with his friend Richard Kruspe. It was Richard who suggested Til to sing in new group, which I have long dreamed of creating. Moreover, Til himself was very surprised by such a request, because he never noted that he had any special vocal abilities.

However, Richard said that he often heard him sing while weaving baskets, and was sure that he would make an excellent vocalist. Til did not refuse the offer. So he became the frontman of the newly created group Rammstein. Before that, Thiel played drums in the punk rock band First Arsch. Currently, Til has a divorce behind him and two daughters (the eldest is Nele, born in 1985 and the youngest is Marie Luise, born in 1992). The vocalist of Rammstein is a mysterious person. This is what he says about himself: “I really am like a big child - ill-mannered, but harmless. People think I'm always strong and explosive. This is wrong. I am sensitive and easily vulnerable, and in love I am romantic and passionate...” -

Group name

It was invented by Christoph Schneider, Paul Landers and Christian Lorenz. According to Paul Landers:

During one of our trips with Feeling B Schneider, Flake and I came up with a new name for the band. Once on the wall of our bus we wrote “Rammstein Flugschau” (Rammstein Air Show). It turned out stupid: we then wrote Rammstein with two “m”, because we didn’t know that the name of the city is written with one. At first we called ourselves that as a joke, but the name stuck to us like an unloved nickname. We were no longer able to get rid of him. Actually, we didn't want to be called Rammstein, that name was too specific for us. We were also looking for: Milch(Milk), or Erde(Earth), or Mutter(Mother), but the name has already stuck.

Also from Paul Landers:

It’s just that at first we had the idea of creating a group that would be called “Rammstein-Flugschau” (“Rammstein Airshow”). Out of self-indulgence, the name came up a couple of times and stuck, even though some of the group found it stupid. Now, of course, they don’t want to know about it. In any case, the name just stuck, like a nickname. "Flugschau", naturally, sounded too long, but we liked Rammstein, and it also suited the music.

According to the guys, the name was chosen on the same principle as Rolling Stone s. But when the group became a little famous, it turned out that fate had played a cruel joke on the Rammstein members. The fact is that the Rammstein participants knew nothing about the tragedy that occurred in August 1988 at a NATO base in the small German town of Rammstein (one “m”) during demonstration flights - it was in West Germany. And when they found out, it was too late to change the name.

Having become popular, the group for a long time distanced itself from the relationship between their name and the name of the site of the tragedy. The double “m” in the name made it possible to explain the word as a designation for a stone ram, but this option was voiced much later.

Story

Background of the group. Herzeleid, Sehnsucht

The origins of Rammstein lie in the period preceding and accompanying the reunification of Germany. The band's co-founder and lead guitarist Richard Kruspe began his musical career in 1989 in western Germany in the band Orgasm Death Gimmick, having moved there from Schwerin (then GDR), where he returned after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Kruspe, a Kiss fan, was looking for an opportunity to combine the hard rock he loved with the electronic sound of industrial. Around this time he met Till Lindemann (then drummer of the punk band First Arsch), and later Oliver Riedel (bass) and Christoph Schneider (drums) of The Inchtabokatables and Die Firma respectively. With this lineup (with Lindemann as vocalist and songwriter), they began to play under the name Rammstein.

On February 19, 1994, four Rammstein with the songs “Das alte Leid”, “Seemann”, “Weißes Fleisch”, “Rammstein”, “Du Riechst So Gut” and “Schwarzes Glas” won the competition of young groups in Berlin, receiving the right to record at a professional studios. A year later, second guitarist Paul Landers joined the band, followed by keyboardist Christian Lorenz, who had played in the punk band Feeling B. With this line-up and with producer Jacob Helner it was recorded debut album Herzeleid. All lyrics in this album, as in most subsequent ones, were written by Lindemann. After several unsuccessful attempts to write lyrics in English, as required by the label, Till insisted on writing songs in German. Released on the Motor Music label, Rammstein's first disc gained wide popularity.

World fame. Mutter

For several years, fans have been waiting for the band's next studio work. Such a long break gave rise to many different rumors, mainly about the breakup of the group. However, in 2000, Rammstein entered the studio to record a new album. The third one was released in 2001. studio album entitled Mutter, which took 4th place in the ranking of the best industrial metal albums according to the magazine Metal Hammer. A tour was soon held in support of it, after which the number of Rammstein fans increased significantly. Later the singles “Ich will”, “Mutter”, “Feuer frei! "and video clips for them. In 2003, on the tenth anniversary of its existence, Rammstein released a DVD Lichtspielhaus c full meeting clips and several concert recordings in good quality.

Subsequent career. Reise, Reise, Rosenrot

At the beginning of 2004, reliable information appeared about the imminent release of a new album. A few months after this, the singles “Mein Teil” and “Amerika” were released. And finally, at the beginning of autumn, the fourth album was released, entitled Reise, Reise, which is very different from the style of the group’s past albums, which, however, did not prevent it from becoming platinum. The album was immediately accompanied by a tour, during which a single from the album was released - “Ohne dich”. During the tour to support the album, the show lost many of its special effects (plastic phallus, burning cape), but gained new ones instead.

At the beginning of 2005, a tour followed with the group Apocalyptica, after which the single “Keine Lust” and its video were released. In September, a video is released, and then the single “Benzin”, the song of the same name from which will be included on the next, fifth album of the group. Next month the album itself, called Rosenrot, which contained 7 old tracks that were not included in the last album, and 4 new compositions. The single "Rosenrot" followed in December. A concert DVD was released in 2006 Volkerball, planned back in 2004, but released later. The disc received mostly positive reviews.

Liebe ist für alle da

In 2008, after a three-year break, it became known that the group was recording a new album. On September 18, 2009, the first single from the new album, “Pussy,” was released, and in mid-December the video “Ich tu dir weh” was released. The album itself Liebe ist für alle da(rus. "Love exists for everyone") was released on October 16. On April 23, 2010, the premiere of the “Haifisch” video took place. The album was released on two discs - the first disc contained the album itself, the second – additional five songs recorded during the work on the album. The video clip for the song Pussy became very scandalous: throughout almost the entire video there are porn inserts demonstrating sexual acts with the participation of all the musicians of the group. As the group members later said, these were understudies. The video was banned from being shown on television.

On December 21, 2009, a video for the song “Ich tu dir weh” was released. The director was Jonas Akerlund. Rammstein have been criticized by the state media control committee for content that is dangerous to young people. Bundesprüfstelle für jugendgefährdende Medien). This committee declared the song "Ich tu dir weh" to be a song praising violence and sadomasochism. In addition, one of the photographs inside the booklet depicts Richard ready to hit a naked woman, which is also considered by the committee as an unacceptable design for distribution among young people. On November 16, the group released new version disc without the controversial song and photograph. On April 23, 2010, the video “Haifisch” premiered.

On February 26, February 28 and March 1, 2010, the group held Russian concerts in support of this album, and on March 7, the band held its first concert in Minsk. The Council of Veterans, and then the Council of Morals, consisting of church leaders and members of the writers' union, called on the country's government to cancel the concert, accusing the team of "blatantly promoting homosexuality, sadomasochism and other perversions, cruelty, violence and obscene language" and saying that Rammstein was being threatened "Belarusian statehood". Nevertheless, the concert was sold out, attracting a record number of visitors: more than 11,000 people. On March 9, 2010 the group visited Kyiv for the first time. The first concert in Ukraine gathered about 10,000 people near the stage.

From June 3 to June 6, 2010, the band performed at the Rock Am Ring festival. Rammstein agreed to broadcast 7 songs - Rammlied, B********, Ich Tu Dir Weh, Pussy, Sonne, Haifisch and Ich Will. But two songs were cut from the airwaves, these are the songs “B********” and “Pussy”; their performance can be watched on YouTube. On July 18, the band performed in Quebec City at a summer festival. After summer festivals, at the end of 2010 the group performed in Latin America and gave one concert in the USA, and at the beginning of 2011 in Australia, New Zealand (as part of the Big Day Out festival) and for the first time in South Africa. From May 5 to May 31, Rammstein toured North America, giving 6 concerts in the USA, 3 in Canada and 4 in Mexico.

In 2016, Rammstein filed a lawsuit against German authorities for temporarily banning the album.

Made in Germany 1995–2011

Style

Music

Rammstein style of music, which the musicians themselves jokingly dubbed "dance metal"(German: Tanzmetall), is predominantly industrial metal in the spirit of new German heaviness. However, he mixes elements of both electronic industrial and alternative metal, and other genres. Many compositions follow the same rhythm (for which Rammstein called their style “dance metal”), and there are also more complex compositions. The musicians deny the direct influence of the Kraftwerk group: “We never liked them.” The group's work is also classified as rock music styles such as hard rock, gothic metal, nu metal, symphonic metal, progressive metal and alternative metal.

Lyrics

The author of all lyrics, with the exception of cover versions of works by other artists, is Till Lindemann.

Texts can be divided into album and non-album. Since each album has its own theme and concept, the lyrics of the songs included in it must correspond to them. For example, the group's second album Sehnsucht dedicated to strange and perverted desires. Each song on this album describes one of them: “Tier” (“Beast”) - incest and pedophilia, “Bestrafe mich” (“Punish me”) - sadomasochism, “Bück dich” (“Bend over”) - violence, adultery. The album “Liebe ist für alle da” (“Love for everyone”), dedicated to love, is also indicative in this regard. As a bonus, there were 5 tracks that were not included in the album because their lyrics were not related to its theme.

Till rarely uses obscene language. The main provocative effect is due to the theme, the semantic load of the text, which balance on the brink of morality and/or aesthetics, although sometimes they step over them without any problems. The subject of the texts is the dark sides of life. The literary hero of the texts is, as a rule, a person flawed in some way from a traditional point of view - a maniac, a pervert, or simply a character obsessed with something with a non-standard view of things. Many texts are characterized by anatomy and varying degrees of sadomasochism.

Criticism

Already at the beginning of the group’s existence, the media of some countries, and primarily German, often accused the musicians of right-wing radical tendencies. The reason for this was the Rammstein show, designed in the style of the Third Reich, lyrics, the meaning of which can be interpreted in two ways, and the prevailing theme of violence and brutality. Criticism intensified after the video for the single "Stripped" was shot in 1998 using fragments of documentaries Leni Riefenstahl "Olympia" (film about the XI Summer Olympic Games 1936 in Berlin). Despite the fact that some fragments from the video were removed, accusations against the group of spreading “fascist” views and idealizing “National Socialist” aesthetics continued. It was forbidden to show this clip on television before 10 pm. Lindemann later admitted that it was a provocation, they crossed the border, and this will not happen again.

The group came under fire from criticism and accusations of “solidarity with National Socialism” in 1999 after the Columbine school shooting. As it turned out during the investigation, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were fans of Rammstein. .

In 2001, in order to deflect ongoing accusations and clearly show their political positions, the group released the song "Links 2-3-4". As Christian Lorenz stated, Till Lindemann wrote the song to dispel the prevailing prejudices against Rammstein: .

However, left-wing anti-fascist organizations criticized Neue Deutsche Härte groups for their thoughtless use of various types of images from the era of Nazi Germany; This was especially true for the group Rammstein, “who in their performances glorified the cult of athletic bodies, fire, muscles and drumming.” At the same time, from the right-wing extremist scene represented by the newspaper of the National Democratic Party of Germany Deutsche Stimme the reaction was exactly the opposite [ ] .

Later, the group was also accused of supporting terrorism, since, according to some media reports, the terrorists who took hostages in school No. 1 in Beslan on September 1, 2004, listened to the group Rammstein in order to keep themselves in an excited and aggressive state. The group members commented on this incident as follows:

“It was not our music that made these terrorists what they are. Music is just a part of society. It is not subject to the cause-effect relationship. The man who invented the machine gun is not responsible for all the wars in the world. All these dark sides of life are part of us by nature. People need to learn to live with it."

“There was a lot of talk about this, but if a person has some kind of radical feeling, anything can provoke its outburst - a drawing, a film, and the like. By pure coincidence it turned out to be our music. It's important to think about what made them take such a step, how they stooped to this level - and not about their tastes in music. Every time something like this happens, everyone starts blaming the artist. This is complete nonsense."

The information that the terrorists in Beslan listened to some kind of music is not confirmed in the testimony of the hostages. There is also no mention of this topic in the reports of the Federal and North Ossetian parliamentary commissions investigating the circumstances of the Beslan terrorist attack.

I'll start with stories and biography, source Internet, Wikipedia. I take great pleasure in collecting information about them - photos, songs and videos. This is the first part of this musical post, theoretical, talking about the group and getting acquainted with the photos!

Recent events, information about the new album!

After a break of four years, in 2009 it became known that the group was recording a new album. On September 18, the first single from the new album, Pussy, was released, which included two new songs: Pussy and Rammlied, as well as a video for the song Pussy. The new album itself, whose title is “Liebe Ist Fur Alle Da” (Russian: “There is love for everyone in the world!”), was released on October 16.

The video for the song Pussy became perhaps the most scandalous in the history of Rammstein. In its final part there are porn inserts demonstrating real sexual acts with the participation (unintentional pun) of all members of the group. The video was prohibited from being shown and removed from most network resources intended for free uploading of videos.

About the name of the group Rammstein

The name of the group translates as “Tram Stone”, i.e. a concrete block used in Germany to separate the sidewalk from the roadway. Many critics tried to connect the name of the group with the accident at Ramstein airbase - the song “Rammstein” is dedicated to this tragedy. But the name of the airbase is written with one letter “M”, and the name of the group is written with two. According to the sextet members themselves, they thought for a long time about what to name the group, until one of them said the word “Rammstein”. In their opinion, this word sounds quite powerful and harsh, therefore it corresponds to the style of their music and singing.

First successes. Herzeleid, Sehnuscht.

The band Rammstein was founded in 1994 in Berlin by guitarist Richard Kruspe. He began his musical career in West Germany in the group “Orgasm Death Gimmick”, escaping from the GDR in 1989. After the reunification of Germany, he returned to his homeland in the city of Schwerin. Kruspe, a Kiss fan, was looking for an opportunity to combine his favorite hard rock with the electronic sound of industrial. During this time, he met Oliver Riedel (bass guitar) and Christoph Schneider (drums), and later Till Lindemann, who played in various punk rock bands.

With this composition they organized the group Rammstein. Lindemann, who previously played drums (for the band “First Arsch”), took the place of lead singer, and he also owns the lyrics of the songs performed by the group. All members of the group are from the former German Democratic Republic, in particular East Berlin and Schwerin. On February 19, 1994, Rammstein, with the songs Das alte Leid, Seemann, Weißes Fleisch and Rammstein, the four of them won a competition for young bands in Berlin, receiving the right to record in a professional studio. A year later, second guitarist Paul Landers joined the group, and then keyboardist Christian Lorenz, who played in the punk band Feeling B.

Rammstein was noticed by Nine Inch Nails leader Trent Reznor, who recommended two of their songs for the soundtrack to David Lynch's thriller Lost Highway. This brought the group additional fame. In 1995, in support of the album, Rammstein toured Europe as the opening act for Clawfinger. Rammstein concerts featured spectacular pyrotechnic shows. In 1997, Rammstein performed on the TV channel for the first time

MTV.

In the same year, a new single “Engel” was released, for which a video was shot and which had a very big success. It was followed by the band's second album, "Sehnsucht", which almost immediately acquired platinum status. By the end of 1997, the non-album single “Das Modell” was released with a cover version of the Kraftwerk song of the same name.

The group enjoys great success both in Germany and abroad. Several Rammstein singles reached the top ten in Germany.

World fame. Mutter.

In 2001, the third studio album, entitled “Mutter,” was finally released, becoming one of the best and most unusual works of the group. Soon a tour was organized in support of it, after which the number of Rammstein fans increased greatly.

Later the singles “Ich Will”, “Mutter”, “Feuer Frei!” were released. and video clips for them.
In 2003, on the tenth anniversary of its existence, Rammstein released the DVD “Lichtspielhaus” with a complete collection of videos and several concert recordings in good quality.

The single "Rosenrot" followed in December.
In 2006, a concert DVD of the group “Volkerball” was released, planned for 2004, but released later. The disc received mostly positive reviews.

Music

Rammstein's style of music, which the musicians themselves jokingly dubbed "dance metal", is predominantly industrial metal in the spirit of Neue Deutsche Härte (New German Heaviness). However, he mixes elements of electronic industrial, alternative metal, and other genres.

Lyrics

Rammstein's lyrics cover a wide range of topics. Many of them are provocative and provocative. The group often touches on the theme of society (Amerika, Links), sex and perversion (Mein Teil, Mann gegen Mann, Bück dich, Pussy), violence, but there are also love lyrics (Ohne dich, Wo bist du, Amour).

Almost all Rammstein lyrics are written in German. The texts constantly contain puns based on different meaning or the consonance of certain German words. For example, Links means both “left” and “left” (two-three-four), Los means “come on” or “without”, Mann gegen Mann - as in “man against man” or “man on man”.

The band members themselves believe that their music sounds only together with German lyrics. However, the group has several songs in other languages. For example, English versions of the songs “Du hast” and “Engel”. In addition, a number of cover versions are performed in English (Stripped - Depeche Mode; Pet Semetery - Ramones). Also, the unofficial album “Kein Engel” (2007), created by listeners, included the song “Calm” by the Russian group “Aria”, performed by Rammstein in Russian.

Fireworks and military style are constant attributes of Rammstein concerts

Already at the beginning of the group’s existence, the media of some countries, and primarily German, often accused the musicians of right-wing radical tendencies. The reason for this was the Rammstein show, designed in the style of the aesthetics of the Third Reich, lyrics, the meaning of which can be interpreted in two ways, and the prevailing theme of violence and brutality. For this reason, several concerts in Poland and the Czech Republic were disrupted.
Criticism intensified after a video clip for the single “Stripped” was shot in 1998, using fragments of Leni Riefenstahl’s documentary films “Olympia” (films about the XI Summer Olympic Games of 1936 in Berlin). In 2001, in order to ward off ongoing accusations and clearly show their political positions, the group released the song “Links 2 3 4”. As Christian Lorenz stated, Till Lindemann wrote the song to dispel prejudices against Rammstein.
They want my heart to be on the right.
But it’s enough for me to lower my eyes:
It hits from the left.
Left!

With these words they wanted to show that they did not care about people’s political views, the main thing was that the people themselves were good. However, left-wing anti-fascist organizations criticized Neue Deutsche Härte groups for their thoughtless use of various types of images from the era of Nazi Germany; This was especially true for the group Rammstein, “who in their performances glorified the cult of athletic bodies, fire, muscles and drumming.” At the same time, from the right-wing extremist scene, represented by the newspaper of the National Democratic Party of Germany (usually referred to in the media as “neo-Nazi”), the reaction was exactly the opposite

The Kraftwerk song “Das Model” was recorded in 1997 as a separate single.
The Depeche Mode song “Stripped” was released as a single in 1998 and a video clip was shot using excerpts from Leni Riefenstahl’s Olympia documentaries.
Ramones - “Pet Sematary” (by the way, Stephen King’s favorite band, who wrote this composition “Pet Sematary” in gratitude to the Master for mentioning it in his works), recorded together with Swedish group Clawfinger during the Mutter tour, featured on the single "Ich will".
Aria - "Calm". The single "Schtiel" with a cover version of the song was released in 2003 by Richard Kruspe and Till Lindemann in honor of the Harley Davidson 100th Anniversary event. Since this recording was not approved by the Universal Records record label, the disc was classified as pirated and prohibited from mass release.
Among other things, the last song at the concert in St. Petersburg (2001) was “Song of Troubled Youth” (music by Alexandra Pakhmutova, lyrics by Lev Oshanin), performed by the group in Russian.

In turn, Rammstein songs became the subject of cover versions by other groups:
Finnish rock cellist quartet Apocalyptica recorded an instrumental version of the song Seemann, as well as a version of the song with vocalist Nina Hagen, for which a video clip was shot.
The song Zwitter was re-recorded by the Russian group Rossomahaar
The song Du Hast was re-recorded by the parody group Bonnie NEM for the album “Comic

Couplet"

Russian group Serch translated, adapted and performed the song Sonne in Russian.
The song Weisses Fleich was re-recorded by the German death-metal band Debauchery.
The song Engel was re-recorded by the German band Gregorian
A few more cover versions included in the Battery tribute album.

Poems

In 2003, Till released a collection of his poems called “Messer.” The concept of the collection is the same as the texts for the group - but Till draws a clear line between individual and collective creativity. Initially, the book was published in two editions, but in small editions. However, the interest in the collection was such that later the edition was repeated, but only in the most expensive version.

A photo shoot was held especially for this book, where the author of the book appears in the form of a mannequin. The photographs were taken by Gert Hof and Jens Rotzsch.

NAME: Christian Flake Lorenz

PLACE OF BIRTH: Berlin

HAIR COLOR: blond

EYE COLOR: blue

HEIGHT: 190 cm

WEIGHT: 73 kg

BANDS BEFORE RAMMSTEIN: Feeling B

FAMILY: Besides him, there were two brothers in the family. Divorced, has a daughter Anya

DO YOU SMOKE?: Yes

MISCELLANEOUS: Very well educated: he has the title of doctor, which earned him great respect from his comrades, since none of them came closer than 10 meters to the higher educational institution, and only because it was located on the road to the bar. Perhaps this forced Christian to study there for the nth number of years, since his main hobby in life is the unlimited consumption of alcohol. Christian is more relaxed about his second hobby, dancing. He understands many styles and directions, but has not yet chosen the optimal one for himself; he prefers a synthesis of ethnic dances with the modern style, which is very fashionable today. He likes to demonstrate the results of his searches at live concerts, which is met with delight by fans and is the reason why some original journalists classify the group as dance rock.

Till Lindemann is known to a wide range of music lovers as a vocalist German group Rammstein, and also as a songwriter. On this moment The band members continue to tour with concerts and work in the studio, where they are recording a new record, which fans will be able to purchase at the end of 2017. Lindemann is expanding the scope of his creative activity: in 2015, together with musician Peter Tägtgren, he created a new musical project - the group Lindemann. In addition, the German rocker tried his hand as a poet, having already published two collections of poetry. It is not surprising that the biography of this talented performer interests a huge army of his fans.

early years

Till was born in early 1963 in the city of Leipzig, East Germany, but his childhood was spent in Schwerin. The parents of the future star were creative people: my father wrote children's books, and my mother worked as a journalist. The family also grew up with him younger sister. However, when the boy was 11 years old, his parents divorced, and soon his mother remarried. But my father’s life did not work out: he died in 1993, because, according to rumors, the man abused alcohol.

Pictured is Till Lindemann as a child.

The future musician was seriously interested in swimming, where he achieved great success. In 1980, the young man was supposed to be sent to the Olympics in Moscow, but as a result of a serious injury he did not have to take part, and later he left the sport forever.

Career in the Ramstein group

Before pursuing a musical career, Lindemann changed several working professions. In 1992, he was offered to become a member of the punk rock band First Arsch. He was never able to master the guitar, but he was good at drums. In the 90s, the young man became friends with musician Richard Kruspe, who invited him to become the vocalist of the new metal band Rammstein. Previously, Till had never had to sing on stage, however, he decided to take a risk.

In 1995, the first album of the group was released, which very quickly captivated German music lovers. Soon the team went on tour European cities, collecting full houses at concerts. In 2001, the group's third album was released, which brought them fame and popularity throughout the world. During their career, the musicians released seven studio discs and also shot several video clips.

Lindemann often experimented with his appearance: he pierced his left ear, and also got tattoos in the form of the inscription “Rock-n-roll” and a flying eagle. Almost constantly he changes his hair color, which was blue, and black, and silver, and white. The frontman's hairstyles were also different: he had a mohawk on his head and a haircut with long bangs. Sometimes his hair is tousled, but in Lately they are neatly cut and combed back. Till's height is 184 cm, and his weight has fluctuated from 90 to 100 kg for several years.

Family life: wife and children

Even in his youth, the musician was extremely popular with girls who did not give him a pass. When Lindemann was 20 years old, changes occurred in his personal life: the young man and his lover named Marika had a daughter, Nele. Later, Till married the mother of his child, however, this marriage did not last long. The wife left the family for another man, and he had to raise the baby alone for several years. Later, the ex-wife began to communicate with the girl and take her to her place.

The musician's second wife was teacher Anya Köseling, who gave birth to his daughter Marie-Louise. However, the couple often quarreled, and Lindemann often beat his wife. Anya did not want to endure the assault any longer and decided to divorce. Since that time, the vocalist of the band Rammstein has been hiding his personal life, however, later journalists learned that he dated German actress Sofia Thomalla for four years.

The age difference between the lovers was about 27 years, but this circumstance did not prevent them from being a couple. Now Till is not only the father of two daughters, but also a grandfather: his eldest daughter Nele gave him a grandson, Fritz Fidel, in 2007.
