All days of the festival, two thematic light shows will be shown here: “Celestial Mechanics” - about loneliness and love, and “Timeless” - plots based on the works of outstanding Russian playwrights. Also on the facades of leading theaters in Russia will be shown the works of the finalists of the international competition Art Vision, held as part of the festival.

The finale of the Circle of Light festival will be a grandiose fireworks display - the first Japanese pyrotechnics show in Russia, which will be held in the Stroginskaya floodplain on September 27. To do this, barges will be installed on the water, on which pyrotechnic installations will be placed. The charges of Japanese fireworks are much larger than usual, each shot is made manually, and the design is individual. They will open at an altitude of 500 meters, and the diameter of the light domes will be about 240 meters.

Tens of thousands of Muscovites last week witnessed a grandiose, unique multimedia show, the scale of which can only be rivaled by two similar world festivals - in Hong Kong and Sydney. The annual festival "Circle of Light", organized by Moscow Department of Sports and Tourism in five days it attracted a record number of spectators not only from the capital and cities of Russia, but also guests from 40 countries. Recent advances in lighting design have turned the Ostankino TV tower into the Eiffel, and the large palace in Tsaritsyno into an underwater world. This year, the organizers used several city venues - Ostankino, Teatralnaya Square, Tsaritsyno, Strogino, Patriarch's Ponds and others. Entry was free everywhere, so everyone who wanted to could see this fantastic spectacle.

FIREWORKS OF A THOUSAND SLOTS, FUJIYAMA AND MUSE

We attended the opening of the show in Ostankino. In 2017, the show’s masterminds decided to dedicate this site to the Year of Ecology, the birthday of the TV tower itself, and also the summit of the Great Towers of the World.

Those who were at the festival for the first time expected that the climax would be somewhere at the end of the hour-long performance. But that's not true. From the very first minutes, the audience opened their mouths, turned on the video recording on their smartphones and did not take their eyes off the site, where the pond was filled with fountains, the TV tower every few minutes turned into the famous high-rise buildings of the world, at its foot lay lavender fields and the Fuji volcano, the Ural Mountains and Baikal , and next to all this spectacle there is an ice show. All this was magically combined with the music. The directors chose only the most famous world hits from such performers as Michael Jackson, Muse, Adele, Sting, David Carret, Charles Aznavour and others. This was accompanied by a fantastic fireworks display. Volleys of fireworks also came from the TV tower itself, which at times resembled a fire-breathing dragon. Hundreds of videos flew into viewers’ Instagrams, increasing the audience of this festival to millions.

Every time we try to surprise the viewer, come up with something new,” he told Komsomolskaya Pravda. director of the Ostankino site Vladimir Demekhin. - In particular, here, at the Ostankino site, we are presenting the largest venue in the history of the festival, because the entire length of the pond - 300 meters - is covered by various lighting, fountain equipment, burners, and probably this year we have the most interesting interaction between all tools. We also have a lot of innovations on other sites. In particular, this year not only the facade of the Bolshoi Theater, but also the Maly Theater is operating on Theater Square; several contents have been specially developed that will allow viewers to have a more interesting viewing experience when two facades are operating simultaneously. At the Tsaritsyno site there will be a fountain show featuring Russian classics and a series of experiments on the façade of the large Catherine Palace. We try to use multi-instrumentalism all the time, to use all the light sources that are available.

According to Vladimir Demekhin, the idea of an ice show is not new. But if in 2015 it was essentially a separate platform, then this one fit into the overall show, and the choreography on ice was magically combined with the choreography of water, light, and burners. By the way, this year famous figure skaters took part in the show - Tatyana Navka, Pyotr Chernyshov, Yuko Kawaguchi and Alexander Smirnov. A whole group of professional dancers skated on the ice with them.

Even the organizers cannot count how many pyrotechnics were used during the festival. On the first day alone, about a thousand volleys colored the sky at one site.

DELEGATIONS FROM 40 COUNTRIES and “FIELD OF MIRACLES”

By the way, the beginning of the show was dedicated to the Ostankino TV tower itself, its half-century anniversary. Viewers saw the stages of her glorious journey and remembered the best programs that she broadcast over these 50 years. Including “Time”, “KVN” and “Field of Miracles”.

The opening day of the festival coincided with the last day of the Great Towers of the World Summit, which took place in Ostankino. The association of great towers also includes Ostankino. And members of delegations from about 40 countries came to watch the “Circle of Light” festival. In addition, tickets to the stands were distributed among social funds. Of course, there weren’t enough seats in the stands for everyone; there were many more applications,” he says president of the group of companies LBL Tatiana Lifantieva.

Tatyana has no doubt that this “Circle of Light” was better than all previous festivals.

We took into account all the wishes that were from our guests, from our viewers in past years. And we did everything to surpass technically and creatively all the victories that we had before that day. It’s a pity, but this is not measured by Guinness,” the organizer regrets.

As Tatyana says, 200 million rubles were spent on holding the festival in Ostankino (the show took place here for two days). This is both a subsidy from the city and money from sponsors, of which the festival has many. The idea for this show has been coming up since January, and by April it was fully planned out. As the organizers say, they will begin preparing a new festival as soon as the current one ends. This means that they are already thinking today about how to surprise us at the Circle of Light in 2018.
