Bologna airport terminals

Bologna Airport has only one passenger terminal. It was completely renovated in 2013. All departing and arriving passengers are served at this terminal.

We focus primarily on the island of Venice. We flew to Bologna from Valencia. Our route should be: Valencia-Bologna, Bologna-Venice, the Venetian island of Venice and finally a vaporetto that will take us to the nearest stop to our hotel. To get from the airport to the city of Bologna, there are two options: taxi or bus. There is a taxi stand next to the arrival terminal. There is a bus to the right of the taxi. The bus to Bologna train station costs 5 euros and takes about 20 minutes.

Arriving at the station we were told that the next train to Venice would not leave until 23: we had no choice so we bought a ticket and we made our way to the McDonald's station for a drink. We are traveling second class. It's quite convenient, they have closed compartments of six places that can be lowered to make a larger head. We arrived in Venice Mestre at 01.

Services at Bologna Airport

Like any European airport, there is everything you need for a comfortable wait for your flight. In the airport's only terminal you will find bank branches, currency exchange offices, pharmacies and a first-aid post. Entertainment options include shops, cafes and restaurants, and a taxi-free zone.

If you want to apply for Tax-free, you can do this at the Travelex Italia Ltd point, which is located on the 1st floor. It is open from 6.00 to 19.00 daily.

There are two train stations in Venice: Mestre and Santa Lucia. The one in Santa Lucia is the best option to go to Venice as it is on the same island, but our train only goes to Mestre. So now you need to get to Venice Island. The journey to Piazza di Roma, already in Venice, lasts only 10 minutes. In the same square in Rome, under the Santa Chiara bridge, the vaporetto stops. Vaporetto is a type of water bus that travels through Venice. A single ticket costs 6.5 euros and this is only one way.

There are also bonuses for several days. There are three lines that govern the entire island and even reach some of the neighboring islands. To get to the hotel from the vaporetto stop you must follow the instructions it gives on its website, since Venice, between its narrow streets and canals, is a real labyrinth, and more so when you arrive for the first time and at two o'clock in the morning The hotel is located in an old building and is a real gem. There are only 6 rooms, all of them are different and have their own individual style.

How to get from Bologna airport to the city and back

The easiest way to get from Bologna airport to the city is by bus. You can also take a taxi directly at the airport or pre-book a transfer if you prefer not to depend on public transport. All ticket prices are as of 2017.

By bus

There is a BLQ shuttle bus between Bologna Airport and the city, which goes to the central train station. If you need to get off in the city center, there will be a Mille stop along the route. The journey will take approximately 20 minutes.

We had breakfast in the hotel's avant-garde cafeteria and prepared for a trip along the city's canals. There is an intense cold just outside that will accompany us all day. There, of course, we find a group of Japanese people taking a million photos in poses only they can come up with. From there we'll stroll to St. Mark's Square, a world heritage site and the star of any visit to Venice. There are not many people and the atmosphere there is great. We entered the Museum of the Basilica of San Marco and enjoyed, above all, the views from the terrace on the top floor.

The bus interval is about 15 minutes. The first flight departs at 5.30 am, the last at 11.30 pm. The bus stop is located near the terminal exit.

The bus schedule can be found on the official website tper.it.

By taxi

If you prefer to take a taxi, you will have to pay about 15 Euros on weekdays and about 18 Euros on weekends and holidays. Also, the rate may be higher if you are traveling with more than 4 people. For luggage you need to pay extra at a rate of 50 cents per piece.

This visit seems much more interesting than visiting the Basilica and we have a good time. One of the highlights is the former Inquisition prison in the basement of the palace and, of course, the famous view of the Bridge of Sighs, named after the last place after the prisoners saw the sky and sea. Since we're doing lunch time, we'll be looking for a restaurant that was recommended by Valle, and that's outside, let's say, the tourist chain.

This is a very nice place with excellent Venetian cuisine. The waiter is horny and invites us in for some lemon shots. After lunch we continue to walk and walk around the city, reaching the Santa Chiara Bridge, and from there to the hotel to take a shower to discover the mysterious Venetian night.

Transfer from Bologna airport

To prepare for your trip in advance, you can book a transfer online from Bologna Airport to your hotel or place where you decide to stay. The advantages of this option are obvious: you can calmly choose a suitable car in Russian, and the driver will meet you upon arrival right at the airport.

We arrived at Piazza San Marco, marveling at how beautiful the city is at night, with its decadent buildings illuminated by indirect light sets. From there we started walking until we reached the Cannaregio area where we had pizza. This is very interesting as they serve cold and hot cocktails.

With the coldness it makes at the time, the star is a kind of hot sangria with fruit. With our glass of hot sangria we left for the hotel, wandering the lonely streets of Venice. After breakfast at the hotel, we explored the areas of San Polo and Dorsoduro. Today is Monday and there is much more atmosphere than yesterday as all the shops are open. Even to end a bright day, the sun struggles to peak through the tangle of clouds in the Venetian sky.

You can view various car options and order a transfer from the airport on the website.

Rent a car at Bologna airport

You can also rent a car directly at the airport. It is better to do this in advance so that everything is ready for your arrival. With a rented car you can drive not only to Bologna, but also to any other cities where you plan to visit on your trip. You can return your car before departure.

We ordered an Italian roso wine and a camembert cheese top with asparagus that leans back. We then cross the neighborhood of Dorsoduro, stopping every two or three at the many art galleries that line its streets, even looking at the works of Castellón Juan Ripolles.

We pick him up at the nearest Salyut stop. We want to completely cross the large canal, so we take line 1 towards Piazza di Roma. After this half hour of vaporetto we will head to the San Marco area to find a place to eat. After lunch we stayed to do some shopping in the Rialto area. From there we go to the hotel to put in a hot shower for repairs, and this is that the temperature during the day does not rise 5 degrees, and the humidity gets into the bones horribly.

Of course, it’s cheaper to rent a car in advance on the website.

On this night it is very cold and thick fog falls on the city, making it even more mystical to cross its streets. It's a small place with very friendly waiters. By chance, all of us who are dining at this moment are Spanish, and this creates a very pleasant atmosphere in which the waiters do not stop joking. Bologna's city center is compact and the narrow cobbled streets are well suited for sightseeing, so walking is a great way to see the sights. Bicycles and motorcycles are also often seen.

Visitors wary of getting lost in the maze of the alley can take advantage of the excellent bus system, which runs from 6:30 pm until late in the evening. Taxis and car rentals are also available, however much of the city center does not allow cars, negating all amenities. Several connectors are used, including a European two-pin connector. Those arriving in Italy with foreign currency can purchase euros at a bank, ATM or exchange office. Credit cards are accepted in shops and luxury stores throughout the city.

Banks are closed on weekends, but they usually offer better exchange rates than money changers. You must add a zero in front of all numbers except cell phone calls. Hotels may charge extra for phone calls, and it is usually cheaper to use a calling card. Public telephones use calling cards for local and international calls, which can be purchased from newsstands and magazines. Internet cafes are available in major cities and resorts.

Bologna's climate is subtropical, with large temperature fluctuations from summer to winter. Summers are hot and muggy with temperatures higher than on the coast. Visitors should note that many locals take vacations in August, and several restaurants and businesses close for at least a month. Precipitation predominates in winter, with temperatures ranging from cold to icy and sudden snow.

November is the wettest month, but visitors should also expect rain in October, December, March and April. The best time to visit Bologna is in spring or autumn, when the weather is a little warmer and there are fewer crowds. There is a special airport bus that transports passengers to the center of Bologna. It leaves every 15 minutes, throughout the day, outside the arrivals hall. The first bus leaves at 5:30 and the last bus at 1 am. The station is a major transport hub connecting places throughout Italy.

There are taxis with fixed rates outside the terminal. However, they are well looked after during peak seasons, so it may be a good idea to book in advance. Airport facilities include banks, ATMs and exchange bureaus, luggage storage, an executive lounge, travel agencies, an information desk and a variety of shops and restaurants.

Bologna International Airport is the main airport in the Emilia-Romagna region and ranks seventh in Italy in terms of passenger traffic. It is named after the Italian physicist and Nobel laureate Guglielmo Marconi. Taking advantage of the fact that this air gate is located just 200 km from the major center of finance and fashion - Milan, every year almost 7 million people choose this airport for a budget trip to Italy. And 6 kilometers away is the ancient city of Bologna, where the first university in Europe was opened in the 11th century.

Departure from Bologna airport

The airport offers both short-term and long-term parking. The express car park is a car park next to the terminal and charges €3.50 per hour, or €30 per day for a short stay. Good news, food at the airport doesn't cost twice as much as in the city. There is even a supermarket in the boarding area. But they fly from many places to Bologna such as London, Crete, Canary Islands, Barcelona, Porto and Frankfurt. And of course, if you are already in Italy, the train is the best option, but that's another story 😉.

But my opinion here is personal, and this is not a publication. Because the invitation was not based on an exchange for mail or any other type of publication. To learn more about this invitation. Images: Official airport websites and the company that operates the airport-hub route.

Bologna Airport consists of one terminal, which was modernized and expanded in 2013 and successfully copes with the influx of tourists. Bologna can be reached by regular shuttle, which will take you to the central station in 20 minutes, where you can change to public transport. Tickets can be purchased from the driver for 6 euros, but it is worth remembering that this option can only be used before 23.30 and after 5.30. At night you will have to look for alternatives, for example, a taxi, which will cost 15 euros on a weekday if you are going to the center of Bologna, and about 20 on a holiday.
