Alexey Arkhipovsky - virtuoso balalaika player

For the first time the “Miracle” program was presented on the Pskov stage.

Balalaika player Alexey Arkhipovsky is one of those few musicians who manage to combine work in the traditional “folk” vein with the development of their own path, often much more vibrant and original. Brilliant successes outside the traditional folklore field, however, do not become a reason for a musician to abandon tradition. Alexey, who can rightfully be called the best balalaika player in the country, pays equal attention to both his work in the leading folk ensembles of Russia and his own projects, in which his undeservedly unpopular instrument is revealed to its fullest and makes the most “uncomfortable” audience applaud.

Balalaika... Masterfully wielding it, he proved that there are no “minor” instruments. There are two people on stage: the Master and his instrument.

REPRESENTATION

Water element

The Temptation Dance Theater will bring the premiere of the play “Man vs Woman” to Pskov. A theater from St. Petersburg stages unusual performances using water that imitates raindrops, rivers, and seas. But most importantly, water metaphorically conveys different human feelings: love, passion, anger, melancholy. Nothing can cope with this better than the elements, which, it would seem, a person has conquered. It's the same with feelings. It seems that people have learned to control them, but they still prevail over cold reason, and then there is a place for drama in life. This drama is shown to the audience.

Acrobatic stunts, almost ballet steps, emotional steps from parquet dances - the style, manner of performance, music and presentation of each number are individual, each of the artists has his own dance style and bright charisma. The combination of such sometimes incompatible directions as numerous springs and streams gives rise to a spectacle as strong as the ocean.

Came to visit us

Kemerovo Drama Theater named after A.V. Lunacharsky will present two premiere performances on the Pskov stage in February.

The play “Summer Wasps Bite Us Even in November” was staged by the young director Nikita Betekhtin based on the play by Ivan Vorypaev. The action on stage resembles an absurd detective story in which the characters try to find an answer to a harmless question, which leads them to an unexpected outcome.

The stage director of the second performance was Anton Bezyazykov. Its name is “Chic Wedding”. In this comedy, the plot is built around funny and confusing situations that the main characters find themselves in on the eve of their wedding. The viewer will find out whether it will happen or not at the end of the performance.

After 55 years again on the Pskov stage

The Pskov Drama Theater is one of five theaters on whose stage Maxim Gorky’s play “The Old Man” was staged. This was back in 1962. After 55 years, director Anna Potapova returns the production to the Pskov stage. The plot is built around a successful entrepreneur Mastakov, who is doing quite well in life. But every person has his own “skeletons in the closet”. A detective story with an unexpected ending will try to resonate with every viewer sitting in the hall.

We took on a very rare play by Gorky. Some time ago “The Old Man” was shown with great success at the Pskov Theater, and today we hope to repeat this success. – noted director Anna Potapova.

Love for art

Valentine's Day in Pskov will be celebrated with the already traditional event of the Pskov Museum-Reserve “Lovers in Art”. On Valentine's Day, everyone who is partial to art is welcome to the art gallery.

We approach the organization of this event with special trepidation and attention, in connection with the closure of the Art Gallery building for reconstruction in March 2018, the organizers convince their future guests.

This time, museum workers have prepared meetings with interesting people, excursions, lectures, a romantic atmosphere and live music.

The regional philharmonic society of the city of Pskov was, is and will continue to be one of the most striking and memorable spiritual dominants for a considerable number of generations of the city. Over the sixty years of its fruitful work, Pskov audiences were presented with a global panorama of not only domestic, but also world musical culture of various eras, styles, genres and musical movements. Performances by world-famous and popular Russian musical groups, as well as outstanding performers, such as the Russian Academic Choir of St. Petersburg under the direction of Vladislav Chernushenko, the concert choir of the M.P. Ballet and Opera Theater have been organized here more than once. Mussorgsky of St. Petersburg, the State Russian Academic Ensemble called "Russia", as well as People's Artist of Russia Lyudmila Zykina.

Over time, certain musical traditions have developed in the Pskov Philharmonic, which have become highly revered, recognized and loved by Pskov audiences. One of these traditions is the holding of various music festivals.

In recent years, a festival movement has emerged, which has finally taken shape in the form of a festival philharmonic cycle, starting in January with Christmas musical evenings and continuing throughout February, March and April with festivals in honor of famous and recognized musical geniuses: M.P. Mussorgsky, B.S. Troyanovsky, N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov and ends as a festival cycle in the last month of the year with the so-called “Gusli Day” - an international festival, as well as a competition for performers playing multi-stringed folk instruments.

The creation of the symphony orchestra of the Pskov Regional Philharmonic took place in 1996. During this time, the orchestra became the leading and leading musical group not only in the city of Pskov, but also in the Pskov region, without whose direct participation not a single large-scale event was held.

At different periods of time, high-level performers collaborated with the symphony orchestra: Vladimir Mishchuk - Honored Artist of Russia, Sergei Roldugin - People's Artist of Russia, Mark Drobinsky - cellist from France, Count Murzha - violinist, laureate of international competitions, Nello Alessi - guitarist from Italy, Olesya Golovneva is a laureate of the international soprano competition. Such eminent conductors as Alexander Razumov, Arkady Galkovsky, Morten Sorensen from Italy, Brenda Lyn Lynch from the USA have worked with the Pskov Orchestra.
The orchestra performed with great success in Novgorod, St. Petersburg, and Latvia.

On the day of celebrating the 10th anniversary of the symphony orchestra, Pskov residents received a gift in the form of a performance of Verdi’s opera La Traviata, which opened new horizons in the further development of musical activity in the city of Pskov. In addition, the orchestra became a regular participant in Pskov music festivals: the Pushkin Theater Festival, the All-Russian Poetry Festival in honor of A.S. Pushkin, festivals dedicated to Russian music in honor of Rimsky-Korsakov, Mussorgsky, as well as the festival of Russian folk music, which is held in honor of balalaika virtuoso B.S. Troyansky.

Musical groups performing folk, classical, and jazz music also play an important role in the work of the regional philharmonic. Ensembles, quartets, trios and duets successfully cope with the task of musical education, participating in festivals and competitions, as well as touring to remote areas - these are instrumental duets, "Bayan Quartet", "Piano Jazz Concert", Russian music ensemble "Pskov" performing in kindergartens and schools.
